Shellac red pigment
Natural shellac red pigment, a product of lac insects, is a natural food coloring agent soluble in both water and ethanol. It boasts high safety, strong coloring power, and excellent lightfastness. Its color varies from orange-yellow through orange-red to purple-red in aqueous solutions, depending on pH values: below 4 it appears orange-yellow, between 4.0-5.0 it turns orange-red, and above 6.0 it becomes purple-red, with a particle size passing 160 mesh 102%. Suitable for a range of food industries (beverages, wines, cakes, candies coloring), and cosmetic applications (lipsticks, rouges), it offers bright colors, harmlessness to human health, and all-around wellness benefits, surpassing chemically synthesized pigments. As such, it is widely favored. The primary markets for shellac red pigment are Japan, South Korea, Europe, and the United States.
