Product Description
Sources Shellac is a purely natural resin secreted by lac insects living on host plants. It features strong adhesive properties, insulation, moisture resistance, smooth and glossy coating, is non-toxic, odorless, and serves as a vital industrial raw material widely used in chemical, defense, metallurgy, machinery, woodwork, papermaking, electronics, medicine, food industries, among others, possessing significant economic value. Major shellac products include pellets, colored shellac sheets, bleached lac, and shellac red pigment. Composition The primary component of shellac is resin, complemented by wax, pigments, and other water-soluble substances. The proportions of these components vary depending on the host plant, origin, and season. Features (1) It is the only thermosetting natural resin, easily soluble in alcohol at room temperature but not after being heated to 125°C for three hours. (2) Insoluble in water, it dissolves in organic solvents like alcohol, forming a fast-drying, glossy, and durable film with high adhesion to various surfaces, solid yet elastic, offering waterproofing, moisture resistance, rust prevention, and protection to objects. (3) Resistant to ultraviolet light. (4) It forms a high-adhesive film in alkaline solutions. (5) It withstands hydrocarbon solvents such as gasoline, exhibiting oil resistance. (6) Being a low-heat nonconductor with a small coefficient of thermal expansion, it serves as an excellent insulator. (7) Utilizing our plant's unique technology and carefully selected raw materials, our shellac sheet products now rival those from India, boasting traits such as transparency, abrasion resistance, easy alcohol solubility, rapid film drying, oil and acid resistance, high plasticity, and excellent colorfastness. 4. Application (1) When heated, it exhibits plasticity and castability, coupled with its remarkable capacity to absorb large amounts of impregnants, making it highly valuable in casting industries. (2) The non-toxic nature of shellac resin, along with its exceptional properties, leads to its application in alcohol-based coatings, electrical insulation materials, printing inks, rubber fillers, and wherever resistance to oils and acids is required. (3) Other Industries: It finds extensive use in pharmaceuticals, food, cosmetics, chemicals, metallurgy, machinery, woodworking, papermaking, electronics, defense, and various other sectors.
